The Great American Pastime

Legends and Legacies from American Baseball

Since the time of the American Civil War, men become boys and boys have become men playing baseball. Through world wars, economic crisis, scandal and even labor disputes within the sport, baseball has remained close to our hearts. Although football, soccer and auto racing may draw bigger audiences today, the legends of the game like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Ted Williams are still remembered with fervor. The metal signs, poster and puzzle here are reminders of warm summer evenings, the smell of fresh cut grass and the sound of hot dog vendors moving through the stands.
